Many communities in South Africa live within 10km from the ocean, but never get the chance to discover it’s unfathomable beauty. 2 Days before South Africa went into a complete lock down, we had the opportunity to film an I Am Water Ocean Guardian workshop. The aim of the workshop is to connect coastal communities to the ocean, to fall in love with it and thus protect it. This film ignited a spark within all of us to explore the possibilities of Ocean based education online and has since been nominated in the top 10 finalists of the Oceanic Global International Film Festival. As the client, IAW needed an overarching short film to communicate their 2 day workshops and what it means to the coaches and children. I hired George Kirkinis as 2nd camera and Peter Marshall as underwater camera specialist, to be part of my team. As director, shooter and editor of this video, I am extremely proud and happy with the outcome and success of this short piece.
